TEMPE, AZ / MusicWire / March 25, 2026 — Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers have released Hell to Breakfast, the band’s ninth studio album. The release arrives as Roger Clyne also marks the 30th anniversary of Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy, the debut album he first released with The Refreshments.
Some listeners know Clyne from his previous eight independent albums with Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers; others first discovered him through Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy. Over the years, he has become known for jangly guitar rock, witty lyrics, and a live show that has built a loyal fan following. He also wrote and performed “Yahoos and Triangles,” the theme song to King of the Hill.
As an Arizona State University student, Clyne studied Cultural Anthropology, with an ethnography focus on mariachis, during a three-month Spanish-immersion stay with a local family in Ensenada, Mexico. That experience helped shape the horn-driven sound of Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy and contributed to a musical identity that has continued through his later work. At a time when grunge and female-led folk dominated much of the mid-1990s landscape, his mix of humor, melody, and borderland influence set him apart and built a following that has lasted for decades.
After lineup changes brought The Refreshments to an end, Clyne and co-founding drummer P.H. Naffah regrouped in Tempe, Arizona, and launched Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers in 1999. Since then, the band has continued as an independent act, touring throughout the year and maintaining a direct relationship with its audience. Clyne and Naffah also created Circus Mexicus, their annual music festival in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, just south of their home state of Arizona.

Hell to Breakfast takes its title from a phrase Roger’s father, Doc Clyne, often used when things turned chaotic. The album includes sessions recorded at Yellow Dog Studios outside Austin, Texas, with Mike Harmeier of Silverada and engineer Adam Odor. Harmeier contributes backing vocals to “Sleepin’ With My Rifle,” while “Agua Caliente” features accordion by Sergio Mendoza of Orkesta Mendoza. “American Drugs,” the second track on the album, was co-written with singer-songwriter Miles Nielsen of The Rusted Hearts and The Nielsen Trust. Other songs on the record include the wistful “Sail into Silver” and the Bowie-leaning “Special Guest.”
